The choreographers took possession of the unique works of art that are Majida Khattari’s “clothing-sculptures”, evoking bodily states in relationship with the materiality and texture of these costumes.
Wearing them as sculptures of moving fabric and guided by the evocative potential of each of them, eight performance artists, in an uneasy and surprising choreography, tackle the symbolic and fantastical connotations of the hijab – this sometimes-imposed piece of clothing, whose original nature was « to remove from view or isolate a body or object ». The setting for this performance is the invitation to the audience to seat themselves on benches surrounding the stage space.
